The Sycamore Film Festival was founded by Shela Lahey Coleman as a non-profit "Arts for the Arts" event dedicated to celebrating independent film and supporting young artists through scholarships.
The festival featured Tony, Emmy & Oscar award nominees and winners alongside international student filmmakers, creating a unique space where established industry legends and emerging voices shared the same stage.
Through the SFF, scholarships were awarded to young adults pursuing education in the Arts, investing in the next generation of storytellers, filmmakers, and performers.
Shela served as Executive Director for 4 years, guiding the festival from its inception and building it into a beloved celebration of cinematic art.
